Hello One and All!

Welcome to The Third {OFFICIAL POST} of Miss Maggie Mae Kay’s {OFFICIAL BLOG}. As most of you know, its getting that infamous time of year entitled “Finals Week!” That said, I regret to state that this weeks post was delayed. I can fully promise, however, that I will be right back on track this upcoming Friday with a regular post. So, without any more ado, I present to you The Third {OFFICIAL POST}.

The Cutie of the Week:

Well hello there! Welcome to this week’s Cutie!

[SPOILER ALERT: book 7] *if you have not read the seventh Harry Potter book and plan to, please be noted I am going to give away a part of the end.*

Now, as most of you probably don’t know, Sunday May 2, 2010 was the celebration of the defeat of Lord Voldemort. This makes me sound like a complete nerd, and I would like to point out that I am one and proud of it.

For those of you who have read the seventh book, you know that during this battle many of the most beloved characters perished. One in particular that most of us are particularly fond of was the late great Fred Weasley.

Here was a man who could make us laugh and swoon all in one sentence… most likely due to one of his practical jokes executed brilliantly alongside his twin George.

Fred, we all appreciate what you have done for the world of magic. Your sacrifice is taken with a heavy heart, but also with the utmost respect. Rest in Peace Fred, may you find peace in the big joke shop in the sky.

Fashion Re-Do:

This week I received an email from an old schoolmate of mine:

Miss Maggie Mae Kay,
I’m a camp counselor for this summer, and I have a $100 gift certificate to Gap.  I really want some nice clothes, but I’m not sure what to do because I’m a camp counselor and I don’t want my clothes to get ruined.  A second question:  I’m not sure how to layer my clothes.  I have a bunch of t-shirts and a few polos and button downs.  How can I get the maximum amount of outfits from this collection and what should I buy to get more stuff that is good for all seasons that I can layer that is cheapest?

Well Michael,

Whenever you have a gift certificate to a store, it’s always best to check out their website first; this way you can have an idea of what you want before you head into the store.

That said, I think with being a Camp Counselor you should steer more towards dark graphic tees. Stains will be practically invisible or assumed to be a part of the shirt. They are also easy to layer- as you said this was another of your concerns. You can easily put a complimenting button up shirt over it or a complimenting polo underneath. When the weather turns cold, you can also wear a long sleeved tee-shirt underneath.

So keep an eye open for long-sleeve tee-shirts and dark graphic tees. They well help you to expand your wardrobe and will be an easy fit for your summer job.

I hope this was helpful!

Good luck,

Miss Maggie Mae Kay

The Story:

What it Means to be a Beaumont

By Miss Maggie Mae Kay

The Beginning in an Ending.

It all started with a piece of paper, complete with a dapper little seal. Mathias held the paper in one hand, and his head was in the other. He heard the front door open and the familiar clicking of Margaret’s heels across the linoleum floors. He couldn’t move.

“Mathias?” She called from the Kitchen, one room away from where Mathias sat. She entered the living room and saw him holding the piece of paper. The seal caught the light. She had to hold herself up. It couldn’t be.

“I ship out for camp in a month.” He finally said raising his head, revealing his bloodshot eyes. He caught the eye of his fiancée as it dripped a lonely tear.

“But, the wedding…” she blubbered, wiping away the water from her cheek.

“We’ll have to change… change the date.” He was breaking her heart. He was breaking her.

“No! There must be a way out of it!” She reached into her purse and pulled out a white feather. “Remember the feather? My grandparents raised me to believe in something pure, a world without anger or violence.”

“There’s nothing I can do about it Margaret! It’s the law! I have to go.” He held his head once more. “You’re grandfather had a choice, I don’t.”

“You can run.” She said pinning the feather to her lapel.

“No, Margaret. You can, but this isn’t my marathon. This is my reality.” He stood up. “I signed up for this; it was only a matter of time before it happened.”

“Then that’s it then.” She said. “I’ll see you at work.”

With that, Margaret headed towards the door stopping only at a small table to slip off her ring.

“Goodbye Mathias.” She said leaving it on the table, and then she was gone.

To be continued….

Well that concludes this week’s post! Please check out the Be A Part! page and send me your fashion questions. Keep an eye open next week for The Fourth {OFFICIAL POST}!

This is Miss Maggie Mae Kay signing off.

Have a magical week!

Hello One and All!

Welcome to The First {OFFICIAL POST} of Miss Maggie Mae Kay’s {OFFICIAL BLOG}. Its taken several drafts for me to finally come up with a concrete plan, but expect it to change as time goes on. My mind is a continuous craze of brilliance and I hope the blog will match that quality to a tee.  So, without any more ado! I present to you The First {OFFICIAL POST}.

The Cutie of the Week:

For those of you who know me best, you know that I am hopelessly boy crazy. That said, each week I will present to you my Cutie of the Week.

This weeks cutie deserves a slight introduction, otherwise you may not know him at all.

I’m sure that if you’re anything like me, you’ve watched your fair share of Muppet Movies. I know I still watch them every chance I get. This weeks cutie is best known for his role in Muppet’s Treasure Island as non-other than the prepubescent orphaned hero, Jim Hawkins. Unfortunately, his prepubescent qualities (high voice being one of them) caused his character to be mistaken as a young girl often.

Today, Kevin Bishop is a British comedian with is own Mad-TV-esque skit based television show and has grown-up into quite the hunk. Those sparkling eyes that took most young girls’ breaths away are now coupled with a deeper voice and a nice patch of scruff on his manly mandible, and not to mention that gorgeous dirty blonde hair of his.

I am a sucker for the blonde haired, blue-eyed golden boys, so here’s to you Mr. Bishop. You are this week’s cutie.

Fashion Re-Do:

Now, for this week’s Fashion Re-Do, I’m going to have to use a personal experience. HOWEVER! Please send me your fashion crisis and I will help you to find an easy and inexpensive way to fix-it. You can find more information about this on the Be a Part! page, found on the tab at the top of the page.

So, onto the Re-Do!

A few weeks ago, while on Spring Break, I found myself in need of a large belt, the kind you wear at your waist. So how did I fix this fashion disaster (in time for my sister’s bridal shower the next day)? Simple!

I rushed to my closet and found an old purse that I hadn’t used in eons, took a seam ripper to the straps, cut a little here, sewed the halves together, and viola! I had me a cute belt!

Purse Belt- (Special thanks to Alysia and Nick!)

This one was a little more complicated, but if you like where I’m coming from, send in your disasters and I’ll help you out!

The Story:

As a writer, I have thousands of stories running through my head. One in particular has been in there for about three years and I need to get it down on paper. Each week I will give you an excerpt of the story. Feel free to let me know what you think! Just check out the Be a Part! page.

What it Means to be a Beaumont

By Miss Maggie Mae Kay

It all started with a feather, white as snow and proudly worn. Then a young man, he stood a tall six feet and even taller given the pride of his stride. The sight of him was enough to make anyone turn a head, but the feather is what stopped the women in their tracks.

Matthew Beaumont wore a sign of cowardice upon his lapel with the courage of the most medaled soldier in the trenches. The women, with their baskets full of feathers, stared in astonishment unsure of how to take this. Just who did he think he was?

While they stared and wondered, one of them took note of his apparent bravery and at that moment, her blue eyes became ten times brighter. She dropped her basket to the ground, carefully picked the biggest of the bunch, and placed it in her hair. She then took the arm of the handsome young man, and shared in his pride.

This is how it all began. The first of the great Beaumonts, Matthew and his young bride Mollie took pride in their disgust of the war and their stress on equality for all. This extreme forward thinking became the tradition for the family, and to think, it all started with a feather.

To be continued….

Well that concludes this week’s post! I do hope you enjoyed it. As this is a very new venture for me, I do appreciate any and all (friendly) suggestions and responses. To reach me just check out the Be a Part! page found at the top corner of the page.

This is Miss Maggie Mae Kay signing off.

Have a stellar week!
